Celebrating Success: Sinapi Aba's Fourth Mentorship Program Graduation

Three hundred (300) women entrepreneurs  from the various parts of the country have successfully completed the 4th edition of  Sinapi Aba’s Women Mentorship Program which marks the fourth of its kind since it started in 2019.

The six-month Mentorship Program connect selected women entrepreneurs (mentee) from informal sectors across different business stages, with seasoned professional mentors and help them harness their corporate management and business operational skills for enhanced profitability through peer-to-peer business coaching.

Joyce Owusu-Dabo, the Chief Programs Officer for Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans, in her key note address at the graduation function held in Kumasi on 21st September,2023, expressed her optimism regarding the program's role in encouraging women-led businesses. She said “Our objective is to select emerging entrepreneurs and offer them requisite expertise in their line of business operations and help them flourish in other to pave way for employment opportunities in the society” She also mentioned that the Mentorship program creates a robust networking environment, encourage knowledge sharing and business insights in effectively managing and scaling up business. “Although the program mainly focusses on women, a handful of men have also participated in the past years”. She added.

For many participants, the program has been transformative; benefiting them through acquisition of knowledge and skill sets like bookkeeping, customer service relations, record keeping and budgeting.  Devina, a caterer, remarked on the importance of diligent record-keeping, noting how it helped her identify and rectify profit leakages in her venture.

The graduation ceremony was graced by representatives from the Morris Foundation and Opportunity International Canada who partnered Sinapi Aba in this noble venture.

Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans is a new company born out of Sinapi Aba Trust. It is a Non-Banking Financial Institution licensed under the Non-Bank Financial institutions Act 2008(Act 774), authorized to carry on the business of Savings and Loans on the 28th of March, 2013 in Ghana. All loan and savings activities that were previously managed by the Trust are new under the care of the savings and loans company.
